The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Hi everyone! I’m back with another book review! I read this book on my Scribd audiobook app! I read this in early to mid January.

I LOVE the cover!

What it’s about:

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is a book about , you guessed it, Evelyn Hugo and her seven husbands. Evelyn Hugo is a well known Hollywood actress who was in her prime in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Think Marilyn Monroe/Elizabeth Taylor kind of famous. But it also has another main character named Monique Grant. Monique is a magazine reporter who isn’t very well known and Evelyn hasn’t done an interview in decades. So it surprises Monique that the famous Hollywood actress would ask for her specifically for an interview.

But when Monique gets to Evelyn’s home she is surprised when Evelyn asks her to write about her life instead. Monique does accept but starts with the question “Who was your true love?”

What I thought:

I rate this book: 5/5 stars.

I didn’t think I would love this book as much as I did, but when I started listening to it the story just captured me. I loved the old Hollywood vibe and Evelyn’s story will make you cry! I was up until 2 am for a couple nights while listening to this cause I had to know what was next!

I loved the LGBTQ+ representation that this book had as well. If you’re curious it has: F/F rep. and bisexual rep. I would 100% recommend this book to anyone! And I can’t wait for Taylor Jenkins Reid next novel!

And the narrator for the audiobook wasn’t bad. Her voice flowed with each character and I do recommend the audiobook.

My first ever trip to Florida!

Hey guys! I’m switching it up this week with a personal blog! Last year I went to Florida for the very first time and I flew on a plane for the first time as well! I went from Sept. 28th-Oct.3rd! I went for my best friend Ashley’s birthday!

On my way to Florida!

I went with Delta Airlines and they were nothing but nice! My mom drove me to the airport. I didn’t like going through security but I think everyone feels that way. I got to the gate kind of early so I sat there and listened to an audio book.

I finally boarded and the take off wasn’t bad. The first plane I got on was a small one so it didn’t have monitors on the back of the seats, but that’s okay. To entertain myself I just kept listening to my audio book. Let me just say; I love flying! I knew I would!

I landed in Atlanta, which was rough, and I had to find my gate fast but I got lost and when I finally found my gate the plane to Florida already left! So I had to get a bit of a later flight but that was okay because I was close to it and I had enough time to eat before boarding. I finally boarded and the plane to Florida was bigger and had monitors so I watched a bit of DeadPool 2, which was great!

Then I landed in Fort Meyers, Florida and saw my best friend who I haven’t seen in a while! And I saw her little brother too!

Me, Ashley (best friend), and her brother Logan

They took me to my hotel and I got my room and dropped off my stuff and they showed me around. We went to where they live, which is in Cape Coral, and I saw her mom’s and step dads house. It’s very nice and I loved how her mom decorated it! I went and seen Ashley’s workplace and stuff like that. Then back to my hotel for relaxation and sleep!

The next day we went with Ashley’s mom to look at houses because she’s planning on buying another house and it was kind of exciting to see what they would potentially live in and that took most of the day and then me, Ashley, and her brother went to Chik-Fil-A for dinner. And that was it for that day.

Me and Ashley went to the beach the next day, and I was soo happy! I love the ocean! We didn’t get to swim tho because of a thing called ‘Red Tide’ which is red algae and can make people really sick when you swim in the ocean.

We got some lunch and I did a bit of souvenir shopping and walked along the pier and then went to her moms house and chilled for a bit and I went back to my hotel. Ashley was staying in my room to. I got a room with two full sized beds. Which the hotel I stayed at was very nice!

Then her birthday came around! We got some Japanese cuisine and then we went and seen ‘The Meg’ which she loved and I didn’t. I did cry like a baby tho because I thought a dog died in the movie….

The next day we went to Orlando! I wish we would’ve gone to Disney or Wizarding World of Harry Potter but I’m broke and probably will never get to go to those places ='( but we went to this place called Old Town and it was pretty cool. We went into this ‘witch shop’ and saw all kinds if crystals and cool stuff in there and we went into this magic shop where this cute guy did some magic for us. We were going to go some where else but she wasn’t feeling that good so we went back to Fort Meyers.

The next day we went to this zoo, which was so cool!

Yeah we fed alligators and pet some baby ones and it was really hot that day too but still so much fun!

Then it was time for me to leave. I hated leaving Florida and I had such a good time there. I really want to go back! I said goodbye to my best friend and boarded on my plane back home. And this time my trip went smoothly! =)

So let me know in the comments:

What is the last trip you went on?

Are there places you want to go?

Have you ever been on a plane before?

A Very Large Expanse Of Sea

Hello everyone!

Here is my book review of ‘A Very Large Expanse Of Sea’ by Tahereh Mafi! This was my first read of 2019 and my first book I have read of hers. I know she is the author of the ‘Shatter Me’ series, but I haven’t read that yet.

I finished this book on January 9th and yes I am sorry it took some time for this review. I wasn’t feeling very well two Monday’s ago and last Monday got away from me! But here we go!

Loved this book! ❤

The Synopsis:

‘A Very Large Expanse Of Sea’ is about a girl named Shirin. She is a sixteen year old Muslim girl living in the year 2002. It’s a year after 9/11 and she is tired of being stereotyped and she isn’t surprised by how cruel people can be at this point. Then, at school, she meets this guy named Ocean. She doesn’t understand why he could be interested in her.

My thoughts:

My star rating: 4.5 stars

I did love the book! I loved the setting and the writing and you can’t help but root for Ocean and Shirin! I’m glad that this was my introduction to Tahereh Mafi!

I love how that this is fiction but it is based on Tahereh’s life as a teenager. How she loved break dancing and how people could be cruel just because of her religion and her wearing a hijab.

I did’t like, and spoilers ahead, how the coach yelled at her and she didn’t really report him. I know she was scared because an older white man had just basically screamed at her. She is only sixteen.

All in all I thought it was really good!

Have you read this book yet?

What were your thoughts?

Have you read Tahereh Mafi’s other series ‘Shatter Me’?

I hope you guys have a great day! Remember to spread happiness and kindness!

Book Review: Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan

Hello! I am back with another book review! I read this book in late Novmeber-Early December. I got it through my November OwlCrate Subscription!

OwlCrate Subscription Edition!

What the book is about:

Each year eight beautiful girls are chosen as ‘Paper Girls’ to serve the demon king. It’s the highest honor they could hope for…..and the most cruel.

A girl named Lei is of the Paper (human) caste and is chosen as the ninth girl to become a ‘Paper Girl’ to serve the demon king. Lei is chosen because of her unusual gold eyes. It is the highest honor for paper girls. But Lei falls in love with another paper girl and it could spell trouble for them both.

My thoughts:

I gave this book a 5/5 stars! I love the world and Natasha’s writing just flows so easily. She did give trigger warnings at the beginning of the book about scenes of violence and sexual assault. I think authors need to start putting trigger warnings at the beginning of their books to be honest.

Now I will give you another trigger warning; there is an animal death in the book. It happens near the beginning. I wish I was warned because I almost didn’t read the rest of the book because of it.

I love that is has LGBTQ+ aspects in it! And really it doesn’t really say anything bad about the relationship at all. The only negative thing is that the demon king could kill them because he wants the ‘Paper Girls’ to himself.

I love how strong some of the characters become in this book, especially Lei. I really can’t wait to see how her story continues in book two!

Reflecting on 2018

Hi everyone! I know it’s been a while since I’ve blogged and I am sorry about that. But let me tel you my pro’s and cons of 2018.

  • Went to Florida for the first time!
  • Flew on a plane for the first time
  • Became an aunt for the first time
  • Went to my first con where I got to see the guys who do the voice acting for Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist and Yuri Katsuki
  • Became closer to friends who I love now and couldn’t imagine losing

  • Had some family drama that I really can’t speak of on here
  • Had to buy a new t.v. because mine went out
  • Had to get a new PS4 because mine went out

All in all 2018 was a whirlwind year for me. I’m hoping 2019 will have more firsts and I hope to really start how my future is going to be! I really want to blog more. I’m thinking once a week!

Everyone have a safe and fun New Years Eve and if you’re going out tonight, please be careful and safe! Don’t drink and drive! You have options and there is NO EXCUSE to drink and drive. If you can’t find a designated driver, a taxi, an uber, or a lyft then don’t go out!

Question: How was your 2018? Do you have any resolutions for 2019? Let me know!

Remember to spread happiness!

Introducing my niece Alannah!

Hey everyone! Meet my niece Alannah Beth Keeling! She was born June 15th, 2018! She is 2 months and 6 days old!

She is just the cutest little girl ever! She looks just like my sister but with dark and and a bit more darker skin. She has brown eyes like her dad!

I still can’t believe my sister had a kid! The day was a bit wild! But in the end it was worth it seeing this little girls face!

I can’t wait to read her Harry Potter and have her watch the movies and also watch Disney movies with her! Yes I am going to turn her into a nerd! 😀

Now Okay, I am sorry it took me a while to make a new post. There really is no excuse for it. I promise to be more consistent.

Until next time; Spread Happiness and always be kind!
